How to choose a laptop for work?

Jak wybrać laptopa do pracy?

How to choose a laptop for work? Today’s job market is so dominated by new technologies that almost every job requires constant use of a computer. In most cases, the most practical in this regard are laptops for work, which can be taken anywhere, unlike classic desktops.

A desktop computer or a laptop for work?

While PCs continue to dominate stationary offices, handy laptops are preferred by most office workers. Their main advantage is mobility, which allows you to move freely inside the office, between departments, having your necessary work tool with you. An additional advantage of the laptop is that it can be taken home, which is a huge advantage for more and more employees. Currently, the labor market is moving in such a direction that most job responsibilities can actually be performed remotely. Research shows that many employees take advantage of this opportunity and do not show up in their offices if there is no such necessity. A laptop for work then becomes the basic tool that you use to perform your duties.

A desktop computer also has its advantages, but in many cases it is disqualified by one disadvantage – the lack of mobility. Its main advantages are that if someone needs a machine with higher parameters than those needed for everyday office work, setting up a desktop computer will be easier than buying a laptop with similar technical parameters. Firstly, it will be easier in the context of selecting individual components, and secondly, definitely cheaper. However, if someone needs a computer only for office work, then a laptop is definitely a better option. It is worth mentioning here that the laptop can also be connected to standard monitors that are associated with desktops.

What parameters should you pay attention to when buying a laptop for work?

When getting a computer for work, you need to pay attention to a few technical details. First of all, it is worth considering under what conditions the laptop will be used for work, whether it will be improvised conditions, such as working on a train, or will you work most of the time in an office on a desk. This is important because if you work at a comfortable desk, you can easily buy a laptop with a large matrix. A screen that will be even 18-20 inches will be much more comfortable during long hours of working sessions than smaller screens that are about 15 inches. Contrary to appearances, it is not worth assuming that the larger the better, because in the case of work on the train or other conditions where the laptop is placed on the lap, or in another, improvised place, a larger laptop will be much less comfortable.

Another issue is determining what work is being done. If these are classic office jobs, and most of the time is spent in office programs, a web browser or an e-mail box, then a computer with a relatively slow processor and an inefficient graphics card is enough. Here, too, you can assume that it is better to buy more powerful equipment right away, but you have to take into account that currently laptops with the highest technical parameters can cost up to several thousand zlotys, and if you only want to conveniently handle the e-mail, all you need is the equipment for a small fraction of this amount. A standard laptop for office work should have no less than 2 GB of RAM, a processor clocked at least 2 GHz and an adequate graphics card. These are the parameters that allow you to run any office software for standard work without jamming. If someone has greater needs, these parameters should be slightly increased, but you have to remember that it is difficult to talk about details here, because most laptops for specialized applications are made to order.

Laptops for specialized applications

The most technologically advanced work laptops are folding computers for graphic designers and video processing specialists. This is a range of work that requires an enormous amount of RAM as well as a powerful graphics card. There are laptops on the market dedicated to this type of solutions and they have parameters similar to those expected by demanding computer players, who are usually the most demanding customers of companies producing computer accessories. If you want to buy a professional laptop at this level, you have to take into account an expense that starts from about five thousand zlotys. There are practically no upper brackets, as there are computers worth tens of thousands available on the market,
