Return of wooden houses. How is living in a house made of wood? Wooden houses return to favor. In recent years, the number of wooden houses has been growing in Poland. Until recently, the sight of wooden houses was associated with the view of mountains, today we can see them more and more often in large agglomerations. Previously, they were associated with leaky huts with low temperature in winter and high humidity in summer.

Currently, the technology of building such houses has changed significantly, and the raw material itself is more and more often used to build not only summer or seasonal houses, but also year-round houses. Contemporary wooden houses are characterized by high energy efficiency, durability and functionality. They can be easily expanded and modified. The finishing of these types of buildings is cheaper and easier than in traditional brick houses. How does the construction process itself take place and what are the advantages of building wooden houses?

Methods of building a wooden house

We can distinguish three basic methods of building a wooden house:

  • from individual elements on the construction site,
  • from previously prepared prefabricated elements,
  • with the use of large-size modules, manufactured in production halls.

The most popular way to build a house is to mount it on the construction site. The installation is relatively simple, an impregnated foundation is mounted on the concrete slab, and then the walls are laid lying down, which are mounted to the foundation, then the floor slab is applied to them and this is how the floor is created.

Houses built of prefabricated timber are built very quickly. What is an important aspect in their favor, can be added to the high quality of individual elements and high price stability.

For generations, wooden houses were built independently, now there are many specialized entities on the market. By using their services, you can significantly reduce the cost and time of construction.

Types of wooden houses

There are three types of wooden houses on the market. The most popular of them are Canadian houses. The construction of such a house consists of a frame made of special beams that rest on the foundations. The foundations are the only elements made of so-called wet mortar. This construction process greatly reduces the time frame for frame houses. All elements are connected with special nails and metal fasteners. The inside of the skeleton is covered with mineral wool and a vapor barrier foil, which ensure good insulation.

The second type are wooden houses made of logs. Buildings created by this method consist of wooden logs of various diameters. The use of logs when building a house allows for large modifications of the building’s body, making it easy to build a highlander-style house and a modern house. This is a big advantage for people who want an individual design of a wooden house .

The last type are half-timbered houses. This method was very common in the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries. The skeleton consists of a large number of heavy, massive bolts that connect the poles. The entire project is reinforced with special braces and foundations.

Advantages of wooden houses

Wooden houses are gaining more and more popularity not only because of their great appearance. There are many more advantages, the owners of such houses indicated the most popular ones:

      • Short construction time – with an experienced construction team, the house is built in 3-4 months. This is due to the use of “dry” technology, only the foundations require masonry work. After construction, wooden houses are ready to move in immediately.
      • Friendly microclimate – the natural ability of wood is the ability to self-regulate humidity. The climate created by this is very conducive to human health. A similar microclimate is impossible to obtain with the use of other technologies.
      • No seasonality of construction – the process of building a wooden house can be carried out regardless of the season. Only foundation work requires positive temperatures.
      • High energy efficiency – wooden frame houses have excellent thermal protection. The whole structure is filled with thermal insulation, thanks to which the walls constitute a natural barrier. This results in less heat loss in winter and a pleasant, cool climate in summer. Wooden houses ensure lower heating bills.
      • Low weight of the structure – the light frame structure reduces the size of the foundations and thus their cost. It also provides the possibility of building wooden houses in difficult conditions, where we will not be granted permission to build a brick house.
      • Durable and durable construction – the materials used to build a wooden house are extremely durable and flexible at the same time. In addition, the entire structure is subjected to appropriate mechanical and chemical treatment, thanks to which it gains fire resistance and is longer life.

Poles more and more willingly decide to buy wooden houses. This technology has been known in our country for many years, but only recently has it been gaining more popularity. Short construction time, high environmental friendliness of the building and ease of modification encourage new investors to build entire estates of wooden houses.
