“Vampire facelift” – the benefits of using platelet-rich plasma: Platelet-rich plasma is a blood product derived from human or animal blood. It contains an increased amount of platelets, thanks to which it has properties that stimulate regenerative processes – thanks to this, platelet-rich plasma has recently found wide (and most importantly, effective) application in aesthetic medicine and cosmetology.

Increasingly, platelet-rich plasma is called a replacement for Botox . This is due to the rich regenerative properties of plasma, thanks to which the skin looks younger; an alternative to popular botox treatments is based primarily on the natural effect provided by platelet-rich plasma. Unlike botox, the skin that is injected does not become immobile afterwards, so the nerves and muscles of the face work as before. Of course, this is not a magic solution to every skin ailment; Platelet-rich plasma is best able to deal with small wrinkles ( elimination of wrinkles ), discoloration of the skin, as well as dry skin that needs intensive hydration.

The use of plasma, i.E. A vampire facelift

The treatment with the use of platelet-rich plasma is commonly called “vampire facelift” – vampire, because the patient’s blood is used for the procedure. The procedure itself consists of several stages; first, the doctor collects the patient’s blood, which is then centrifuged in a special centrifuge so as to separate the platelets from the red blood cells (they are separated by a sterile and amorphous gel).

Then, a factor (most often calcium chloride) is added to the separated plasma, which will cause the release of cytokines from the platelets, i.e. proteins that stimulate the growth of cells. Then the preparation is ready to be injected into the patient again. Plasma is administered in one of two ways: either by injecting it linearly around the wrinkles, or by inserting it under the skin with many very fine needles, as in the mesotherapy procedure .

The effects of platelet injection

The skin plates, which are responsible for the healing process of wounds, do exactly the same when injected under the skin again – they regenerate the skin and improve its appearance. In order for this to happen, the stem cells are first stimulated to multiply and the fibroblasts to produce more collagen, thanks to which the skin cells are strongly moisturized; new blood vessels are formed.

As a result of all these processes, the skin becomes firmer and more elastic. Its blood supply improves and wrinkles are smoothed out. For this reason, the vampire facelift is used to fill the eye area, crow’s feet, neck, cleavage, nasolabial folds, and even hands, not only the face area.

An additional advantage of using platelet-rich plasma injections is to inhibit the process of baldness, as the plasma also stimulates the cells responsible for hair growth; as a result, the hair not only grows faster, but also becomes thicker. This is a very similar procedure to the popular mesotherapy.

Long lasting rejuvenation effect

After the procedure with the use of platelets, there is no need to perform other facial treatments in the field of aesthetic medicine for the next six months. Thanks to the lifting with the use of platelet-rich plasma, the skin will be firm and elastic, as well as strongly moisturized for six months, so that other treatments will be simply unnecessary. Also, half a year is the period during which the effects of the “vampire facelift” usually persist.

Who shouldn’t use a vampire facelift?

As the procedure not only uses blood, but is also invasive to some extent, there is a long list of contraindications, for which the injection of platelet plasma cannot be decided under any circumstances. These include: blood diseases, neoplastic diseases, infections, purulent skin lesions, herpes; Pregnant people and those who use hyaluronic acid fillers should not agree to the “vampire facelift”, as the acid reacts badly in combination with this treatment.
Due to its healing properties, plasma is used not only in aesthetic medicine. It is also used in the treatment of all kinds of injuries (joints, muscles, tendons, etc.), joint degenerative diseases, and even fractures. Additionally, it speeds up the process of tissue healing.

Despite the fact that aesthetic medicine Warsaw with the use of blood plasma has won a wide circle of fans, especially among women, still many doctors are very skeptical about the “vampire facelift”. Criticism is primarily associated with possible complications after the procedure: it can contribute to the development of immune diseases or embolism. It is true that when the procedure is invasive, it is easy to get unwanted consequences, therefore you should only use the services of experienced, recommended aesthetic medicine doctors. The best way to find the right clinic is to read the opinions of previous clients online.
